This report seeks approval from the Director of Environment and Sustainability under delegated authority of the Cabinet Member for a Sustainable Camden; to implement temporary cycle lane infrastructure on York Way (between Hungerford Road and Freight Lane) and to improve safety for an anticipated increased number of people cycling as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This report seeks approval for “Section 2” of the York Way scheme; Section 1 (York Way, between Freight Lane and Wharfdale Road) was approved and is currently under construction. The proposal meets the objectives of Our Camden Plan by creating clean, vibrant and sustainable places and making it easier for people to travel more by foot or bike.
THAT the Director of Environment and Sustainability:
(1) notes the legal advice in section 7 of this Report and the equalities impact assessment attached as Appendix C to, and summarised in section 4 of, this report;
(2) gives approval to proceed with the implementation of the scheme as recommended in Option 2 (at Section 3) of this report, subject to detailed design and compliance with statutory processes.
