Purpose:

On 06 November, the Director of Environment approved for implementation walking and cycling improvements on Haverstock Hill, as part of the Council’s COVID-19 Safer Travel response.

 

This report seeks approval from the Director of Environment and Sustainability, under delegated authority from the Cabinet Member for a Sustainable Camden, to revoke the Experimental Traffic Order (‘ETO’), that came into force on 03 December 2020, and halt construction work for the walking and cycling infrastructure on Haverstock Hill/ Rosslyn Hill (between the junctions with Prince of Wales Road and Pond Street).

 

It also asks the Director to note and agree that officers will undertake further engagement with local residents and businesses and other stakeholders on the future of the scheme with a view to a further decision report on the scheme coming back to the Director for consideration, to include whether or not a fresh ETO should be made.

 

 

Decision:

THAT the Director of Environment and Sustainability, having considered the contents of this report and the confidential Appendix, agrees that:

 

  1. The Experimental Traffic Order, which was advertised on the 23 November 2020 and came into force on 03 December 2020, in respect of the implementation of ‘pop-up’ cycle lanes, and pedestrian improvements, on Haverstock Hill/ Rosslyn Hill between the junctions with Prince of Wales Road and Pond Street be revoked and that all necessary steps be taken to put this decision into effect, including halting construction work for the walking and cycling infrastructure on Haverstock Hill/ Rosslyn Hill (between the junctions with Prince of Wales Road and Pond Street);
  2. Officers will undertake further engagement with local residents and businesses and other stakeholders on the future of the scheme with a view to a further decision report on the scheme coming back to the Director of Environment and Sustainability for consideration, to include whether or not a fresh ETO should be made.
