Announcements

Minutes:

1.                  Emergency Evacuation Routes -The emergency routes were noted.

2.                  Declarations of interests – Councillor Julian Fulbrook declared a personal interest as he had been a former Chair of Governors at Swiss Cottage School.

 

3.      Members welcomed back Jennet Moseley (Committee Clerk) to the committee.

4. Annual Report – Academic Year 2009-2010 - Colin Adams (Professional Advisor to SACRE) tabled the annual report 2009-2010 for new and existing members of SACRE. 

5.      NASACRE ConferenceBirmingham (FREE ENTRY)– this would be held on Thursday 31st March 2011, at 10.00am-3.45pm at Carrs Lane Church Centre, Birmingham.  If anyone wished to attend, they should contact Yvonne Cameron, Centre Administrator, South London Multifaith Resource Centre, Lewisham PDC, Kilmorie Road, London SE23 2SP. 6.      NASACRE - noted that NASACRE would be holding their AGM in Birmingham and requested for a delegate to attend.   Colin Adams (Professional Advisor to SACRE) stated that he would circulate the details regarding the conference and if anyone was interested in attending, they should contact him.

Apologies for Absence

Minutes:

Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Adam Harrison and Sean Birch, and from Peter Ginnings and Liz Wolverson.  Apologies for early departure were received from Councillors Fulbrook and Quadir.

To Approve the Minutes of the Previous Meeting on 19 October 2010 pdf icon PDF 138 KB

Page 1: Members present – Noted that Ms Christine Cargill be amended to Reverend Christine Cargill.

 

Subject to the above amendment the minutes were confirmed and signed as a correct record.

Page 2: Item 5: Student Co-options: Colin Adams stated that he had contacted the officer with regards to sixth form students acting as co-opted members of SACRE.  However, he had not heard from the officer as yet, but would continue to chase this issue.

Applications for the Renewals of Determinations - Update pdf icon PDF 169 KB

Written report of the Professional Adviser to SACRE

 

Members are asked to consider the applications for the renewal of Determinations from Beckford, Rhyl and Swiss Cottage Schools.

 

 

Minutes:

Consideration was given to a report of the Professional Advisor to SACRE

 

Members noted that three applications had been received from Beckford, Rhyl and Swiss Cottage School. 

 

Members considered the applications and agreed that all three determinations be approved.

 

It was also noted that Colin Adams (Professional Advisor to SACRE)  would contact Beckford to clarify expectations relating to collective worship and would also contact the RE adviser from the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS) about the possibility of her running a session on this topic for Camden teachers.   

 

RESOLVED –

 

THAT the Determination renewals for Beckford, Rhyl and Swiss Cottage Schools be agreed.

5.

Joint Conference with Islington SACRE to take place on 8 March 2011

A verbal update to be provided by the Professional Advisor.

 

Minutes:

Consideration was given to an oral report of the Professional Advisor to SACRE

 

Members noted that a joint Islington and Camden conference would be held on 8th March 2011, from 4.15 –7.00pm, at Laycock Professional Development Centre, Laycock Street, London N1 1TH. The guest speaker would be Clive Erricker.  The conference was designed for people involved in religious education in schools as well as SACRE members.

 

Noted that the closing date for registration was 18th February 2011.

Introduction to the National Association of Standing Advisory Councils for Religious Education (NASACRE) Training Materials

Oral report

 

The materials will be presented by the Professional Advisor for members consideration.

 

Minutes:

Consideration was given to a report of the Professional Advisor to SACRE

 

Colin Adams informed members that the title of the report was incorrect and should read as follows “Introduction to the National “Association “ not Assembly” of Standing Advisory Councils for Religious Education (NASACRE) Training Materials.

 

Members were shown a presentation slide containing training materials for SACRE, and were informed that the information could be downloaded from the NASCRE website.

 

It was agreed to look at the materials on collective worship at the next meeting.
