RESOLVED –


(i)       THAT Mary Thorne be elected Chair of the Agreed Syllabus Conference.

 

(ii)      THAT Ann Boater be elected Vice-Chair of the Agreed Syllabus Conference.

Announcements

Broadcast of the meeting

 

The Chair to announce the following: ‘In addition to the rights by law that the public and press have to record this meeting, I would like to remind everyone that this meeting is being broadcast live by the Council to the Internet and can be viewed on our website for twelve months after the meeting. After that time, webcasts are archived and can be made available upon request.

 

If you have asked to address the meeting, you are deemed to be consenting to having your contributions recorded and broadcast, including video when switched on, and to the use of those sound recordings and images for webcasting and/or training purposes.

Apologies for absence were received from Abdul Quadir, Cllr Sylvia McNamara, Cllr Izzy Lenga, Cllr Jenny Headlam-Wells, Felicity Djerehe, Rev Damien Mason, Rev Natasha Beckles, Sarah Richardson and Sophie Fegan.

Minutes:

The current membership of the Agreed Syllabus Conference was noted.

 

Members agreed that they would like to involve more teachers in the process, and so would consider adding more members to the Conference at future meetings.

 

 

6.

Next steps for the Agreed Syllabus Conference

To consider the next steps for the Agreed Syllabus Conference in its review of Camden’s RE syllabus.

 

 

Minutes:

Members noted that Camden currently used the London version of the Hampshire syllabus. There was alternative options that could be considered, such as moving to the Newham syllabus.

 

Members agreed that a survey should be done of teachers to ascertain what their views were on the current syllabus and what they would like in a new one. Claire Clinton said that she could amend surveys she had done in other boroughs and send out to Camden schools.

 

Owen Rees said he would consult on whether there was a slot available for Claire Clinton or Mary Thorne to attend the half-termly Heads’ meetings to explain to them what the Agreed Syllabus Conference was doing and why feedback and participation from members of staff into the process was important.

 

RESOLVED –

 

THAT a survey be conducted of schools and teachers in Camden.

It was agreed that the next meeting would be held on the rising of the SACRE meeting on 19th October.
