King Henry’s Road Area Safe and Healthy Streets Scheme

This report seeks approval from the Director of Environment and Sustainability, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for a Sustainable Camden, to make permanent the current trial area-wide 7.5-tonne weight restriction scheme introduced in January 2023 in the King Henry’s Road area. The scheme prohibits vehicles weighing 7.5 tonnes or more from using the network of residential streets between Avenue Road, Adelaide Road and Primrose Hill Road as a cut-through, ‘except for access’. The scheme was implemented as an 18-month trial under an Experimental Traffic Order (ETO) which came into force on 19 January 2023.

The report also seeks approval for several new permanent pedestrian, road safety, public realm and environmental improvements in the area.

The recommendations in this report are made considering relevant policies, feedback and monitoring data collected during the trial period, a full public consultation on the proposals contained in this report and an updated Equality Impact Assessment.
